Inspired by the landscape of her native New Zealand, Kay hopes to capture some of the visual and spiritual beauty of the natural world in her painting. She spent her childhood in the countryside enjoying the freedom to explore the great outdoors and later became a keen hiker around the hills and lakes.
Having painted for most of her life Kay has attended many art workshops and summer schools, as well as a year of full-time study at Aoraki Polytechnic School of Art. Although she paints a variety of subject matter. Kay has recently developed her interest in portraiture. Her painterly style is influenced by artists such as Monet, Cassatt and Cezanne. A wish to see the masters’ original works lured Kay to the galleries of Europe and the UK in 2006. She now lives in Oxford, UK
